In 2006, after successfully doing business in “traditional” fashion for 110 years, Koontz Furniture & Interior Design decided it was time to have a new website. Koontz, located in Ocala, Florida, specializes in dramatic customized home furnishings and décor for a discriminating clientele; they knew their website would need to unmistakably reflect the company’s unique blend of quality, sophistication and experience.
However, the Koontz management team was unfamiliar with what it takes to design and implement a website.
“I didn’t have an IT background. None of us did,” said Beth Koontz, the company’s Director of Marketing who was given the responsibility to develop the site. “We knew there was going to be a learning curve.”
Using recommendations from friends, Beth and her team interviewed a number of potential web-development partners. It soon became clear that SpiralFX would be their provider of choice.
“The decision came down to a number of defining factors,” Beth explained. “SpiralFX had a welcoming attitude and a great team spirit, but the real key was that they were willing to walk us through the whole process.”
Given Koontz Furniture’s lack of web-related experience, they really appreciated how SpiralFX approached the collaboration.
They were patient and flexible, and understanding of our situation,” Beth added. “They showed us a variety of ideas and asked for our preferences, then they listened to our input and came back with improvements. It was a great give-and-take.”
Beth emphasized that another positive aspect of their relationship was the manner in which SpiralFX approached the money situation. She had heard horror stories about other companies getting burned by their website providers.
“They didn’t nickel-and-dime us,” she said. “SpiralFX knew we had a budget and worked within it. That was important.”
The completed Koontz website immediately started paying big dividends by directly contributing to a number of valuable new referrals and sales. The impressive website may be viewed at www.koontzfurnitureanddesign.com.
“It was an enjoyable experience,” Beth concluded, “and at the end of the day, I can honestly say I really like our website.”
